Dear Students, Parents & Community:
South Middle School is committed to creating challenging learning environments that foster collaborative critical thinking, provide relevant learning experiences and empower self-directed goal setting for students to become STRONG citizens who will succeed in post-secondary opportunities and compete in a global workforce. This mission drives the work and planning we design for our students. Through our Vision we support students to: Learn. Inspire. Lead. Empower.
At South Middle School, we are South STRONG! These values support us to develop a collaborative community focused on growth.
Success, Trust, Respect, Optimism, Noble-minded, Grit
We are honored that you have chosen to be a member of the South STRONG Lobo team. Our team is passionate about students, education and connectioning with our community.
If you have questions or concerns, please call us or stop by. We work hard to connect with our parents and community. To meet with an administrator please call us and we will schedule a time to connect. Because our administrative team is often in classrooms, scheduling a time to meet will ensure we are available to you when you come to South.
Our Dean of Climate & Culture, Ms. Green, is available to address safety concerns and discipline issues with the help from our campus monitors: Mr. Angel, Mr. Chuck, Mr. Dave, Ms. Tracee & Mr. LaBorde.
Our Counselor, Ms. Kania, is available to address academic planning, social and emotional development and concerns. We have a new teammate in our mental health department this year, Ms. Lindsay, Student Success Coach, who will be working with students to support them to success.
The administrative team, Assistant Principal Mr. Lewis and I, are here to support in any way needed. You can find us at parent events including Parent Opportunity Gap Night, Family Nights, Parent-Teacher conferences, Sporting and Musical Events. For more information about these nights and additional volunteering opportunities, please connect with Ms. Diggs, Family Liaison.
Our entire team works together using Restorative Practices to help meet our mission. We have amazing educators and support staff who are committed to high-quality instruction and positive relationship to help everyone be South STRONG!
We are excited to have you join us for the 2017-18 school year!
Courtney Goertz, Principal
