Dear Students and Parents:
At South Middle School, we are committed to the whole child. Our mission is to create a safe learning environment that is relationship centered and responsive to our students’ academic and social needs. Our students dig into real world problems to learn for mastery and to allow them access to the lives they want to lead. We share our passion and motivation to collectively inspire and motivate our students. We strive to have our parents, teachers, and community members actively involved in learning.
At South Middle School,
- We work together in a culture of
- We RESPECT each other as unique and valuable individuals and partners.
- We engage in COLLABORATION to be smarter than we are on our own.
- We ensure that every decision we make and action we take is grounded in
And lastly, we believe learning should be FUN!
As always, if you have questions or concerns, please call us. Our dean of students, Mr. Brendan Netherton, is available to address safety concerns and discipline issues. Our counselors, Ms. Roxanne Kania and Ms. Johni Willett, are available to address academic planning, academic needs, social and emotional concerns. The administrators are also grade level contacts for parents, guardians, and students when a question or concern arises that is outside the roles of our other team members; specifically, Sean Lewis will work with the 8th grade students, Roderick Tooson will work with the 7th grade students, and Principal Courtney Goertz will work with the 6th grade students.
All of our team works together using Restorative Practices to help meet our mission of creating a safe learning environment that is relationship centered and responsive to our students’ academic and social needs. Additionally, we have an amazing group of teachers and support staff who are committed to high quality instruction and positive relationships to help everyone grow and succeed.
We are excited to have you join us for the 2016-2017 school year!
