Welcome to the 2015-2016 South Middle School Year!

At South Middle School, we are committed to the whole child. Our mission is to create a safe learning environment that is relationship centered and responsive to our scholars’ academic and social needs. Our scholars dig into real world problems to learn for mastery and to allow them access to the lives they want to lead. We share our passion and motivation to collectively inspire and motivate our scholars. We strive to have our parents, teachers, and community members actively involved in learning.

No Place for Hate

South Middle School has been designated a “No Place for Hate” school since the 2013-2014 school year by the Anti-Defamation League. No Place for Hate helps to create and sustain an inclusive school environment where all students feel valued and have the opportunity to succeed by promoting respect for individual difference while challenging bigotry and prejudice.

Students at South have signed their Resolution of Respect pledge three years in a row!

Resolution of Respect

I will treat others the way I want to be treated. I will respect others even if they are not like me. I will speak out against all forms of prejudice and discrimination. I will reach out to support those who are targets of hate. Everyone should be able to feel safe at school. I want our school to be No Place for Hate®.

By signing this pledge, I commit myself to creating a community that is NO PLACE FOR HATE® .
